Lucky Penny, part II

Monday, October 31st, 2011

God definitely has a sense of humor.

The wonderful place to live hit a bump on Saturday. After sleeping from 8PM till 10:30AM on Saturday morning, I came out of the bedroom to find the landlord at my front door ringing a doorbell that we found wasn’t working. She wanted “to talk”.

Long story short, my personal belongings which were “no problem” when they CHOSE ME to move in, suddenly are the cause of a HIGHER electric bill, for the 22 days I was actually HERE in October.

I was told that “had I known you had THIS MUCH STUFF, I would have never let you move in”.

I also heard that “my husband and I feel that you are using us as storage”.

I offered to take her to the actual storage unit where MOST of my stuff is, but she declined as it’s “not her problem”.

So, tomorrow I rent a U-Haul and move to my OWN place, with covered parking for my ’stang, an extra bedroom for my STUFF, closets for my clothes and LOTS OF ROOM FOR MY STUFF!

And, no landlord coming into my rented living space WHILE I’M AT WORK!!!

This was a really nice place to visit, and I enjoyed the time spent here.

And now, it’s time to fly!

Cinderella, indeed! :)

Wednesday, October 26th, 2011

I know that my kindness to others, heck, to lizards stuck between the screen and the window, is the reason for my good fortune these past couple of years…even when there has been so much struggle at the same time. To be able to be here in The Villages, I can’t seem to say that enough, can I?

Anyway, a couple of nights ago, we were in the midst of an early cold front, and there was a nip in the air.

I came home from work and I could smell a wood burning fireplace, thought to myself, HOW LUCKY for someone to have a fireplace…I was remembering Georgia and the fireplace in the living room where I lived…and missing those I’ve left “back home” in GA…

As I walked down the path to my “new” front door, I turned a corner and the source of that wonderful smell, the fireplace I was longing for, was RIGHT OUTSIDE my new home…

I’ve known the pit was there, the owner where I now live installed a fire pit in the center of a huge patio at the back of their home…but since it is also the location of the table and umbrella cover and this is the first time they’ve had a fire, I hadn’t really been aware of it’s presence.

So, while I was thinking how lucky someone else was, turns out, I was thinking about MYSELF!

I arrived home to the smell of a wood burning fireplace, having traveled there in a golf cart loaned to me by friends who apologized to me because the plastic enclosures were “shabby”. And later that night, I brought a blanket to cover my legs and feet, and I wore a coat over my clothes, when I took an hour to go dance at Katie Belles. I was so happy, instead of warding off the cold and the wind with the shabby enclosures tucked neatly up and out of the way, it was like riding in a horse drawn carriage in St. Augustine, something I did years ago at Christmas time.

I told the owners of the cart, that to me, their extra golf cart - with shabby enclosures - is like riding around in a horse drawn pumpkin!!!

And I’m wearing glass slippers!!

Lucky Penny… ?

Wednesday, October 26th, 2011

On my way to work this morning (one of the 3 part-time jobs so that I can keep living in The Villages!), I walked because it’s that close to the office, I found a heads up penny lying in the road. I had to laugh. This “lucky” penny had been worn away over time, having been run over and stressed and pounded into a flattened version of itself. I could still see Lincoln’s head, so I knew it was heads up, but I had to laugh…

How perfect for ME to find a battered and beaten “lucky” penny? I’m lucky to be here, lucky to have friends who provide me with the use of golf carts to ride around as I live my Cinderella life here in The Villages, lucky to have 3 part-time jobs so that I can pay rent, lucky to have family in the area, lucky to…

Anyway, wanted to share that God must have a fine sense of humor.

Turtle Totem

Thursday, October 6th, 2011

Turtle is the oldest symbol for the Earth.
It is the personification of goddess energy and the eternal Earth itself.

If you have a Turtle totem,
you must be mindful of returning to the Earth what she has given you.
Honor the creative source within you.
Use water and earth energies to create a harmonious flow in your life.
Ask the Earth for assistance and her riches will pour forth.

If a Turtle totem shows up in your life,
slow down the pace of your life.

Bigger, stronger, faster are not always the best ways to reach your goals.

Turtle is fine teacher of the art of grounding.
When you learn to ground yourself to Earth’s power and strength,
you place focus on your thoughts and actions
and use the Earth’s limitless energies rather than your own to accomplish your will.

Turtle is the keeper of doors
and one of the ways into the Faerie Realm.

4 days in the new digs…

Thursday, October 6th, 2011

I LOVE THIS PLACE…it’s split into a 40/60 section…60% for the livingroom/kitchenette with pantry and HVAC unit behind closed doors. 40% for the bedroom with a smallish closet and an attached bathroom. I have a sky light in the bathroom…a lot of windows, a huge patio with a built-in fire pit just outside my front door. Even a place for a small garden!! There are laminate (wood) floors and cable tv! A microwave, 2 burner stove and a toaster oven (no oven oven). Both the bathroom and the kitchen have their own water heater, so no waiting for hot water.

I’ve pretty much settled in, finding things are not at my immediate reach, but - with a little searching, I’m finding everything I need to start my new life. Next is to spend time donating stuff that I don’t need and clearing out the storage unit. I’m telling myself 2 hours a week should do it.

Of course, I’ve been “cleaning out the storage unit” for 3 years now…was going to sort through stuff before I put it in the PODS unit back in GA…was going to sort through it when I unpacked it here in Lady Lake. Eventually…

It’s late…I’m working all three jobs, still managing to get in some dancing, even saw a movie on Sunday.

Life is definitely good.

:)
