Did you know they give DUI to people driving DUI’s?

Friday, August 27th, 2010

It’s a fact.  80% of the vehicles towed to a local Fruitland Park impound lot are GOLF CARTS FROM THE VILLAGES.  Due to DUI’s.   It’s laughable, unless you are one of the people who have to be bailed out of jail in Tavares ($500 bond).   It’s another $269 to get the golf cart of out impound.  Another amount to have it towed back to your house.  And that’s just the beginning of the nightmare.  There’s the court date, community service, classes, probation…

It was my lot in life to come to the rescue of one of The Villages residents who got to spend the night in the Lake County jail.  Wouldn’t you know it?  I received a speeding ticket while performing the rescue.   Another $256, plus traffic school to keep the points off of my driving record.

Did you know that Florida has excessively tough DUI and speeding laws?

I do.

Speaking of Dementia…

Friday, August 27th, 2010

It’s a really sad experience, not only for the person who has dementia, but for the family and friends of the individual.

Enough said.

Who Needs Sleep Anyway?

Friday, August 27th, 2010

There comes a time in life when you want to sleep, at night, instead of wishing you could go to sleep in the middle of the day because you are so exhausted from NOT being able to sleep the night before…

I mean, you are tired.   Bone weary tired.  And, when you finally realize, hey, I’m tired enough to sleep now, off to bed you go.   Knowing that sleep will come quickly and quietly…because you are just “that” tired.

And then, after tossing and turning for 90 minutes, you give up and get up.   What to do now?

I don’t have any books to read, it’s really too late to take a walk in the neighborhood and there is probably nothing on TV anyway.  Ok, I don’t know if there is anything on TV or not, but what I decided to do was to revisit susannola.com and see if I could get back in the habit of writing.

Ask anyone who has ever received an email from me, I don’t know how to condense what I want to say, there is always something to add, revise or update…an email response that starts on the hour may not be finished at the start of the next hour…and the context in which I am relating some event is no longer relevant because what I was writing about has changed.   Requiring edits to reflect the changes, more revision to the edits and before I know it, nearly 2 hours have passed and I’m still trying to say “it’s raining out now”, only it isn’t raining anymore.

Sigh.

Which brings dementia to mind…
