Happy New Year, 8 days late - Remembering the fallen in Tuscon and Gabby

Sunday, January 8th, 2012

My last post was about getting to go dancing.   After which I spent the next week at home sick…actually, 9 days.   A different bug this time, but kept me away from work and made me get a lot of rest.  Which I’m not doing right now as I’m typing.  I just finished up work for tomorrow, after spending the afternoon and early evening with my mom.  Dug up a 4×4 post with a nice bird feeder contraption and dug a deeper hole in her back yard to “re-plant” said bird feeder contraption.   Mom’s a happy camper and I’ll be sore tomorrow, but so glad to get it done as it’s something she’s wanted for years.

On the ride back home, with the full moon (?) shining in the sky, I was contemplative…not realizing until I heard it on the radio (PBS station) that it was a year ago today when the awful shootings occurred and so many innocents were shot.   Little Christina among them.

May the dead rest in peace and may the living find some solace on this anniversary.

Lasting Treasure…or, a Moments Pleasure?

Monday, November 14th, 2011

I might have mentioned the offer/loan of not just one, but TWO, golf carts since leaving the 18 month residence?   If not, I’ve used 2 different carts.  The one I have now is (YIKES!  NOT parked undercover, I left it thinking I’d be going back out this evening - instead I worked till 10PM and then caught up on Castle episodes, online!) not the “prettiest”, but it’s my sparkling treasure.

Still reeling from the attempt to eliminate the filth from where I’m now living, even after the Angel Cards, I KNEW I had to do something to cheer myself up…GOLF CART TO THE RESCUE.

This past Thursday, even though it was chilly, I took the cart to the first of the three jobs I now hold…past the lake with the beautiful waterfall, and this time of the year, the geese - someone was feeding them.  I stopped to watch, UNTIL I heard the dogs barking and yapping at the dog park I have to pass on the way to the bridge over the highway…

I left the beauty of the geese and the water, to head to the park where I stopped to watch 2 little dogs on the small dog side of the fence running head to head with 2 huge dogs on the other side…back and forth, the length of the fence, these 4 dogs ran - barking and yapping at each other…I was smiling when they finally wore themselves out and went to find a place to relieve themselves…

I continued smiling as I went up over the bridge and then, free “falling”, LOOK MA, NO HANDS (and no brakes) as I flew down the other side, past another pond/lake where more water fowl were serenely paddling around.

I arrived at work HAPPY again…the sky was blue, the sun was shining and I had access to a golf cart.

Heaven.

Shine on me Sunshine, Walk with me World

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

Shine on me sunshine
Walk with me world
It’s a skippidity do da day
I’m the happiest girl, in the whole U.S.A.

While the rest of the song doesn’t fit (I’m NOT newly married!!!), I’ve been singing and humming the opening chorus of “Happiest Girl in the Whole USA” all day.

IT IS BEAUTIFUL here today.  I’m still (THANK GOD) in The Villages!  And, I’m in MY OWN “APARTMENT”!

I have 3 part-time jobs, and now that I’ve gotten over the grumbling about “not having enough time”…and now that I’m appreciating that I can GO TO DANCE LESSONS from work and then come back to work AFTER DANCING (OMIGOD, what kind of a job lets you do that???)…I am truly the  happiest girl in the whole USA.

AND, I have a golf cart to use on top of every other good thing that keeps happening to/for me!

So, for those who might be wondering…I need lead boots because I keep floating in the air!!!

My best to everyone…Life is so good…and IT DOES GET BETTER!! (even if you are a straight, unmarried, female!!)

American Wild Horse Preservation Campaign

Saturday, August 13th, 2011

I’m calling on my friends and family members to join me in fighting for the future of America’s wild horses and burros. These iconic animals are threatened as never before by a federal policy that rounds them up by the tens of thousands from public lands in the West and inhumanely warehouses them at great taxpayer expense.

Please visit Stop Summer Mustang Roundups/Stampeding Young Foals to speak up for the mustangs! The more citizens who express opposition, the better our chances of saving our wild horses! Thank you.
