Lucky Penny… ?

Wednesday, October 26th, 2011

On my way to work this morning (one of the 3 part-time jobs so that I can keep living in The Villages!), I walked because it’s that close to the office, I found a heads up penny lying in the road. I had to laugh. This “lucky” penny had been worn away over time, having been run over and stressed and pounded into a flattened version of itself. I could still see Lincoln’s head, so I knew it was heads up, but I had to laugh…

How perfect for ME to find a battered and beaten “lucky” penny? I’m lucky to be here, lucky to have friends who provide me with the use of golf carts to ride around as I live my Cinderella life here in The Villages, lucky to have 3 part-time jobs so that I can pay rent, lucky to have family in the area, lucky to…

Anyway, wanted to share that God must have a fine sense of humor.

When will UARS (space junk) re-enter Earth’s atmosphere?

Sunday, September 18th, 2011

When will UARS re-enter Earth’s atmosphere?

It’s too early to predict exactly when the spacecraft will begin its plunge to the ground, but NASA says it will likely be in late September or early October 2011. As we get closer to that time, the space agency expects to be able to predict more accurately the course and timeline of UARS’ re-entry. The timing depends on variations in radiation from the sun, as well as the spacecraft’s orientation as it loses altitude.

LOL! Space Junk on it’s Way…What Timing!

Friday, September 9th, 2011

I have a 3rd job, so I can now pay rent!   Started the job this past Tuesday.   It’s like the job was special ordered for someone with my temperament and skill set.   Not unlike a miracle.

Today, I found a mother-in-law suite, in the very neighborhood I had HOPED (and prayed) for - and, with the job I started 4 days ago, I can actually PAY RENT.

I was lying on the sofa, after working all day, thinking just how LUCKY I am to have found both a job and a place to live, when I saw the report that there more chance of getting hit by the space junk than winning the lottery!!!

What is the chance that I would land another job “of my dreams” and the living arrangement “of my dreams”, ONLY TO BE STRUCK AND KILLED BY FALLING SPACE JUNK?

As soon as I learn that ALL of the junk has fallen, and I’m STILL ALIVE, I’ll be back to report some of the details over the past month or so.

Go figure.

Another month to go…

Tuesday, August 30th, 2011

It’s been a “crazy summer”.   Earthquake(s) in the north east, Hurricane Irene, and before that extreme heat and drought conditions all over the US.  If I do hear from someone where I’ve applied for a job, it’s a rejection notice.  The latest came WHILE the job I had applied for is STILL POSTED on the website.  Go figure.

I decide I would clean refrigerators.   I’m good at cleaning.   It would be indoors, most likely, here in Florida, in air conditioned kitchens.

That was until I watch YouTube videos on “cleaning a refrigerator” and found that there is MOLD lurking in some refrigerators.   One or two exposures to mold…not something I’d ask for, but manageable.   A couple of those a day and I’m at the doctors with my body reacting to the exposure.

So that’s out.   Guess it’s back to pulling weeds!

They continue to grow.   It’s a job nobody wants to do.   And, while it’s not my FAVORITE thing to do, heck, it is a form of  “gardening” and communing with Mother Earth.

Except that I’m KILLING all manner of plant life in the process.   Weeds, to be sure, but they are living and growing.

A lot like the cockroach I killed last night.

Part of nature.

ICK.

Oh, this started out as a posting on “I have one month left to live under this roof before I have to move somewhere else”.   Talk about saying the same thing twice in one sentence!    Anyway, I have one month to enjoy walking out the back door to go to the swimming pool.   One month of using the golf cart to traverse The Villages.   One month of “free” rent before worrying about where I’ll find the money to pay rent the following month.

Another month to go…
