When reality sets in…

I’m almost a Villager.  I live in a home in The Villages.  I have a gate entry pass.  And I can say “I live in The Villages”, but I don’t yet have the official documentation to allow me to get into Katie Belle’s…but will have it soon.

I spent the last three days moving in and today, with the help of a friend, brought the last of my belongings from the apartment.  Spent Cinco De Mayo unpacking and setting up my “dorm room” into the 2 bedroom/2 bath home…it was a good holiday and I accomplished a lot.  The truth is that I was desperately seeking my drivers license which I had misplaced during the move.  I found it today, when I finally had time to THINK about where I might have put it.  What a relief.

Back to The Villages, I’ve learned that something is missing…

Living somewhere is not the same as having the time and the resources to BE A VILLAGER.   It occurred to me as I packed up one of the many Jeep loads of my belongings that something was missing.  I even went so far as to contemplate the saying, “be careful what you ask for…”

The reality is that I’m fully responsible for the monthly rent.  And, one week of May is nearly over and there hasn’t been time to focus on generating the income to pay for the luxury to which I’m becoming accostomed.

Last weekend was spent attending a publishing conference in Orlando.  It was a welcomed break from the every day responsibilities, I learned some valuable information.  The last three days were spent moving.  Today, today is a work day.

It’s 2:35, the business day is nearly over.  As soon as I clean up the room I just finished moving out of, I can think about making a living.  Having been otherwise involved since this time on Thursday, nearly a week ago, it’s time to face the music.

Reality has set in…
